What's New In The Garden This Week?

The Week of April 28, 2008:

After having just come out of a spring snowfall (about a foot or so of snow on the ground for a few days), this week started out warm. Today (April 29), after a warm day, it has grown cool, windy and rainy. The melted snow outside has really helped many of the plants to shoot up.

Meanwhile, indoors, some Cypripediums (hardy lady's slipper orchids) that I have in pots are growing steadily now, and one is in bud.

I hope to get out to some greenhouses very soon to browse the early selection of perennials.
